István Czachesz is currently Adjunct Professor of Protestant Theology at the University of Heidelberg as well as a member of the International Cognition and Culture Institute, which was founded by the London School of Economics and Political Sciences in 2008. Prior to his fellowship with us, István Czachesz was fellow of the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies based at the University of Helsinki and held a Heisenberg Fellowship of the German Research Foundation.
István Czachesz historical research interests focus on Religious Antiquity, the New Testament and Early Christianity. His systematic research concentrates on using insights from cognitive science in the study of religion, with particular attention to the emergence and development of Early Christianity. István Czachesz maintains the Early Christian Mind Website, which gives an informative overview about his innovative approach, combining both historical and systematic research interests. During his stay in Bochum, István Czachesz investigates the development of Early Christian Theology as the evolution of symbolic markers.
