KHK Visiting Research Fellow 2011

KHK Visiting Research Fellow 2011, Full Professor for the History of Religions, Center of Excellence “Cultural Foundations of Integration”, University of Constance, Germany

Since 2007 Dorothea Weltecke is Full Professor for the History of Religions and Religious Cultures at the University of Constance and Principal Investigator in the university’s Center of Excellence “Cultural Foundations of Integration”. From 2001 to 2007 she worked as research associate at the Georg-August-University in Göttingen and, prior to that, worked on a DFG sponsored project investigating “trust” at the University of Bielefeld. She received research grants from the “Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes” and the German Research Foundation.

Dorothea Weltecke studies the inter and intra-religious dynamics in the history of religions in Europe and the Middle East by following a transcultural, comparative and integrative approach. She particularly focuses on the centuries between 500 and 1500, the history of religious minorities, religious deviance and religious violence. During her time in Bochum she will investigate problems of religious tolerance and religious relativism in the 12th and 13th century.
