Ruhr University, Bochum-Germany (Oct. 2012 – present) Doctorate

The theme of the Doctorate thesis is 'Intra-religious diversity among Pakistani Muslims migrants' in the field of religious sociology. I am studying under the Center for Religious Studies. The emphasis is on the difference of diverse denominations of Islam. The study is aimed to inquire about the role of religious organization and religious leader in the life of a migrant. It also investigates the visible religious practices while being a migrant with denominational affiliation. Another aspire is to find out the level of interaction among diverse Muslims in a Diaspora context. Therefore it explores the interviewees' experiences from contact with people of other divers (intra-religious) Islamic groups and other religions, and the way to deal with sectarian violence in Pakistan while finding out the reasons. It will also show the differences before and after migration and marriage or living with and without family, as well as the respondents' ideas about dressing pattern in result of this new cultural interface. It also gazes into the idea of not projecting the affiliation to other denominations than one’s own.
