DESCRIPTION:Abstract Carmen Meinert:\nAs certain trends of Buddhism were t
ransmitted from the Central Asian Oasis of Dunhuang to Tibet in the 8th/9
th centuries and to Song China at the turn of the first millennium differ
ent political interventions are discernible in both cultural contexts whi
ch favoured or inhibited the transmission of the teachings. On the basis
of a specific case study\, the analysis of both transfer processes allow
to detect cultural factors and historical circumstances that shaped the
formation of a Buddhist (main)stream in cultural comparison. \n \nVorträ
