 rs to the role of long-distance trade in the cross-pollination of cultures
  and ideas in Central Asia\, little work has been done in identifying cont
 act zones and transfer processes between the multifarious religious cultu
 res and practices in Central Asia.  This lacuna is in part due to difficu
 lties in the historiography of Central Asia stemming from the diversity of
  the languages\, polities\, and cultures connected by the transcontinental
